Summer

Female · Senior · 11 years

Summer is a wonderful female dog who came to us due to her caregiver's health condition. The female dog surely knows home life and misses it... Summer arrived at us unfortunately neglected - overweight, with overgrown nails and a torn paw pad. The female dog, despite her age, is surprisingly active and lively. She loves to play with tug toys and proudly carries them in her mouth :) A walk with her is a pure pleasure, she doesn't pull (well, almost), and doesn't bother other dogs. She is very kind and gentle towards people - it's clear that she easily attaches herself. Summer is a regular at the Adoptuj Warszawiaka events, where she is a real star! She is open to every person she meets, travels by bus and car without problems, and new places don't scare her! In our opinion, Summer will get along with another dog. However, she is not a fan of cats. Let's not let this wonderful old lady spend the rest of her life in an animal shelter! By the way, we invite you to our social media, where you will find reports from the lives of our charges in the animal shelter, information about adoptions, greetings from homes, educational posts and much more! · Facebook: · Instagram Summer: · Instagram Group: · Instagram Paluszaki: TikTok:

Summer to cudowna sunia, która trafiła do nas z powodu stanu zdrowia swojej opiekunki. Sunia na pewno zna życie domowe i za nim tęskni... Summer przyjechała do nas niestety zaniedbana - otyła, z przerośniętymi pazurami i naderwaną brodawką. About Summer

What life with Summer looks like

Summer is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Previously neglected - was overweight with overgrown nails and torn nipple when rescued

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Summer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Summer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Summer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Summer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Summer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Summer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Summer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
