adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sweeney can stay in his Romanian foster home! His story: Cluj, Romania. Sweety, Speedy, Sweeney: Paralyzed? So what! Sweeney shows us once again that paralysis is no reason to have less fun in life. At 35 cm and 7 kg, our three-year-old Sweeney is a lightweight. With his loving, relaxed, gentle, and calm nature, he is a real heartthrob. For the lovable Sweeney, we are searching for sensitive adoptive or, preferably, foster parents who understand his special needs and can handle them, and who also have no touch phobias. For example, helping him to empty his bladder is necessary. We can provide comprehensive advice and information in a personal conversation about the specifics of Sweeney. His Romanian foster home can only speak well of him. Sweeney likes to be stroked, enjoys attention, and shares his affection generously with anyone who meets him. He gets along well with his fellow animals. Whether he likes cats, we do not know. An initial skepticism from people he does not yet know is completely normal. Now, who thinks that Sweeney can't experience as much with his paralysis as a dog without? Far from it. With his Rolli, he flies over stones and stones, runs over hills, plows through the snow, and runs into the water. Even swimming is possible. Playing with fellow animals must be included, and a Jacob's journey would also be possible with enough training. Sweeny's time in the foster home is unfortunately limited, and a move to the shelter would be a catastrophe for him. Therefore, the entire "Stray Family" is crossing their fingers that he would then be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. Who proves that true friendship knows no boundaries and gives Sweeney a future? We say a big thank you to dear Silvie S. for the generous adoption of her namesake sponsorship. A big thank you to Nora L.! You support Sweeney with a monthly sponsorship! A big thank you to Karola F. from Karola Fehr Kommunikationsdesign! You also support Sweeney with a monthly sponsorship! And another monthly sponsor for Sweeney! A big thank you to Lisa B.!.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Sweeney darf in seiner rumänischen Pflegestelle bleiben! Vielen Dank an Lisa B.!

About Sweeney

What life with Sweeney looks like

Sweeney is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sweeney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sweeney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sweeney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sweeney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sweeney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sweeney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sweeney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
