Taifunas

Husky · Male · Adult · 5 years

• Need a quiet environment: no • Can live in the city: yes • Get along with families: yes, but not with a family that has children under school age • Can get along with other dogs: No information • Have lived with cats: no • I have the following special characteristics regarding personality or breed traits: Husky-like I love to sing and play with my teeth • Something to note about my health: I eat kidney food • I have had health procedures: dental treatment • Have lived in home care: no • Have been in shelter kennel for over 2 years: no • Can walk on a leash: yes I ended up at the dog shelter from very basic conditions. It can be said that me and two dog companions had a home, but in reality it meant living outdoors tied up or barely tethered. However, the owner did not oppose the proposal to give us up and therefore signed the surrender agreement voluntarily and gave up all three of his dogs, including me. I got the name Taifunas here at the dog shelter. I don't quite know why I was named after a tropical poison? Such a name does not suit an Arctic dog. However, there is initial energy in me and I am actually a quite energetic and active companion. Tropical weather does not attract me, but my genes are of an original sled dog. Therefore, I fulfill the classic husky traits. You can call me Wind Boy Tauko!

Kutsukaa minua vaikka Tuulipoika Taukiksi!

About Taifunas

What life with Taifunas looks like

Taifunas is a large adult husky dog waiting at Pet Rescue Finland in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Kidney diet required, needs dental care, howling behavior

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taifunas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taifunas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Finland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taifunas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taifunas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Finland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taifunas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taifunas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Finland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taifunas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
