Talis

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Talis, a handsome Hungarian dog, has a story that leaves one speechless. Talis had owners who moved away and simply left him behind. He wandered around the animal shelter area, searching for food, water, and help. The locals finally informed the shelter, and Talis was secured on July 24, 2026. He had a chip, but no name, no vaccinations, and no castration. He now goes by the beautiful name Talis, his vaccination program has started, and he has already had his castration. He is ready to open a new chapter in his life. He is looking for a family that will never leave him behind and show him how beautiful life can be when loved and appreciated. Talis has had a tough time, but he is still a friendly, nice, and human-oriented dog man, a bit reserved at first with strangers. Fortunately, he has not lost his trust in humans, even after being so cowardly abandoned by his two-legged friends. What a wonderful four-legged friend! He enjoys petting and attention and is happy when you spend time with him and give him attention and affection, as he has a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately, such happy moments are very limited for many dogs in the shelter. He has adjusted to his new life situation at the shelter, although he would certainly rather exchange the shelter for his own home today than tomorrow, where he does not have to sit behind bars in a kennel. When he looks at you with his sad-faithful gaze, you are immediately in love with him. He walks well on a leash, but there is still room for improvement on the finer points, and he will quickly understand the rest of the dog ABC with his great nature and loving guidance. Talis wants to feel that he has people by his side whom he can rely on 100% and who give him love, care, security, and safety. Talis gets along well with his fellow dogs and is currently (August 26, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. We are looking for loving, adventurous, and patient dog friends who appreciate him as a loyal friend. Enjoy wonderful activities together in nature, dog school, dog-friendly exercise, many cuddle hours, and going through thick and thin together - Talis is the ideal partner for this. Who will enter into a lifelong dog-human friendship with Talis? Talis can travel from around the beginning/middle of September 2026 if he has found a home or a foster home.

Ursprungsland: Ungarn Die Geschichte vom hübschen Talis macht mal wieder sprachlos.

About Talis

What life with Talis looks like

Talis is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Talis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Talis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Talis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Talis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Talis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Talis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Talis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
