Adopt Tamea

Collie · Female · Adult · 4 years

Our Tamea, born around March 2021, a bit Bearded Collie, a bit Briard, inside and out beautiful, is still searching for her own family, which we don't understand. She came to the animal shelter in Schumen as a very young puppy with her mother and three siblings. Mama Tosca and two of the siblings, Teo and Tanisha, have already been rehomed. Tammy and Tamea have not been as lucky yet. Maybe it will work out now, as they will be 4 years old soon (born around March 2021). Tamea is a very active female dog who needs to be encouraged and given plenty of exercise. A quick round won't satisfy her. Sports enthusiasts: get in touch! Tamea would be happy with you. Extensive walks, preferably also hikes, head work, agility, mantrailing, and obedience training would be very to her taste, depending on her mood and talent. After the physical activities come the cuddle sessions. Tamea loves us humans very much and constantly seeks our proximity. She is very open and shows it even during the rare and short excursions outside the animal shelter. She could turn her attention to other exciting things, sniffing here and there, but she constantly seeks contact, snuggling up to the legs of her current walker and jumping up in joy. It always saddens us when we have to bring Tamea back to her run. She looks at us sadly... Tamea knows nothing outside her very limited small world but is very open and will quickly adapt to new impressions. With a bit of time and patience, the adaptation will go quickly. We are sure of that. We are looking for an active family for her, as already mentioned, who also doesn't let wind and weather deter them from taking Tamea out. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. A more rural environment would be great, as would hound-loving teenagers. Tamea has lived in a mixed dog group from the start and is 1A with her fellow animals in socialization. Of course, there could also be a dog with whom the chemistry doesn't click. We could imagine that with Tamea, the stimulation is what she needs, and if that is given, she will be more overall calm. She is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and would like to travel at the drop of a hat. She has a shoulder height of around 55 cm, and we of course have the right box for her. If you have a nice home for our active Tamea, please fill out the interested parties form on the page of Grund zur Hoffnung e.V.

About Tamea

What life with Tamea looks like

Tamea is a large adult collie dog waiting at Collies suchen ein Zuhause in Oldenburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tamea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tamea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Collies suchen ein Zuhause handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tamea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tamea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Collies suchen ein Zuhause will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tamea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tamea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Collies suchen ein Zuhause early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tamea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
