TAPPI

Male · Senior · 9 years

Estimated date of birth: September 2016 Brief profile: friendly, adventurous, curious, outgoing, cuddly, family-oriented, older children welcome. In early July 2026, animal shelter director Kata came across a Facebook post in which someone was looking to give away their two already elderly dachshunds. The siblings Tappi and Lilith, born in September 2016 according to the previous owner, had spent their entire lives until then living on chains in the garden. Unimaginable... Kata couldn't get them out of her mind, as she could already picture them spending the rest of their lives chained up or confined in a kennel. So she contacted the owners and offered to take the puppies into her care, giving them the chance to experience at last what a wonderful life as a dog can be in a loving home. It's amazing how friendly and cheerful these two canine siblings have remained. You can still tell that they weren't used to human affection or attention—initially, they didn't respond much to attempts to win them over. But gradually, they're starting to understand that people are offering them petting or even a tasty treat now and then :-). And so they're learning that interacting with humans is definitely worth it. They're already walking quite well on the leash and are thrilled to sniff around their surroundings and finally explore the world—at least within a small scope. For compatibility with other dogs, they haven't yet been tested due to time constraints. We'll carry out such a test soon, but we don't really expect any difficulties here, as the two dogs seem very easygoing with each other. Thus, we're now looking for loving people for the delightful Tappi (as well as for his sister Lilith) who'd like to show this little guy the whole wide world. Of course, he'll still need to learn all the things essential for a relaxed dog life. But with the right support, he'll certainly succeed. Tappi will move into his new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and equipped with an EU pet passport. Would you like to offer this curious little fellow a wonderful home? Then we'd love to hear from you! The best way to do this is to use our self-disclosure form right away (or alternatively, you can also use our contact form).

About TAPPI

What life with TAPPI looks like

TAPPI is a small senior dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting TAPPI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TAPPI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TAPPI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TAPPI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TAPPI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TAPPI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know TAPPI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
