Adopt Terra

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

When one meets a dog, perhaps because one is looking for a four-legged companion, one would like to know something about its history. For dogs from the animal shelter, this is often only partially or not at all possible. So it seemed that Terra and her brother Pluto fell from the sky when they were discovered on a field, where they were wandering around in search of something edible. Our Romanian animal welfare workers were out walking the dogs from the our shelter on that day when they found the two little fluff balls. The two were shy, but their overwhelming hunger won out, and they were lured in with food. Fortunately, casual walkers usually have a few treats in their pockets. The puppies were about three months old when they moved into Doggyland on a spring day in May 2022. The female puppy was named Terra, which means "earth." How fitting, as she was found on a field. The animal shelter staff, however, call her only "Silky Terra," as her fur, especially on her head, is incredibly soft and silky. Terra is a wonderful female dog. One would surely envy her when she walks by, accompanied by her imposing size and her so positive aura. She knows how to use a leash and a harness and would certainly enjoy long walks. The animal shelter staff emphasize Terra's extremely friendly and sociable character, her warmth towards humans, her gentle and open nature. Terra gets along with fellow animals, and cats would also be no problem in her new home. Terra would certainly appreciate a house with a garden. But the most important thing would be her people, with whom she would surely build a close bond quickly. If you want to know more about Terra and are considering an adoption, please contact Terra's matchmaker. Call during the day or write an email at any time. You will be given friendly and competent advice. And now, dear Terra, we are crossing our fingers that your heart's person will soon get in touch. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Terra

What life with Terra looks like

Terra is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Terra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Terra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Terra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Terra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Terra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Terra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Terra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
