Compatible with males: yes females: yes cats: not yet tested Since our shelter: 10.05.2014 Location: Emergency station Algerri Update October 2016: Toby has not been able to trust humans until today. On the one hand because his fear is so deep and on the other hand because there simply is not enough time to spend intensive time with him. When a person approaches his enclosure, he hides and only comes out of his den when "the coast is clear". He is compatible with fellow animals and the pack will probably have to remain his family for ever. Of course we don't give up hope, but it is very likely that Toby will spend his life in his enclosure. But even Toby wants to eat and needs veterinary care, therefore we ask for a small donation for this great guy. Also, a sponsorship is possible. Thus we could improve his living conditions on site. Toby roamed the streets of Algerri alone, our supervisor was able to catch him and thus he escaped the fate that abandoned dogs usually face: being hit by cars, driven away, hungry. Toby is such a nice dog, with his expressive eyes, and there were often interested people for him. But he has such fear of people, that we have not been able to place him responsibly so far. He panics in unfamiliar situations, which he cannot control. Therefore Toby has to stay with us for now, a pity for such a young dog who could have had so many possibilities. Einerseits weil seine Angst so tief sitzt und andererseits weil einfach die Zeit fehlt, um sich intensiv mit ihm zu beschäftigen. Nähert sich ein Mensch seinem Gehege, dann versteckt er sich und kommt erst wieder aus seiner Höhle, wenn „die Luft rein ist“. Er ist verträglich mit Artgenossen und das Rudel wird wohl auch für immer seine Familie bleiben müssen. Natürlich geben wir die Hoffnung nicht auf, aber es ist doch sehr wahrscheinlich, dass Toby sein Leben in seinem Gehege verbringen wird. Aber auch Toby will fressen und braucht tierärztliche Versorgung, daher bitten wir um eine kleine Spende für diesen tollen Kerl. Auch eine Patenschaft wäre möglich. So könnten wir seine Lebensbedingungen vor Ort verbessern.Toby lief allein auf den Straßen Algerris herum, unsere Betreuerin konnte ihn einfangen und so entging er dem Schicksal, dass ausgesetzte Hunde ereilt: angefahren, vertrieben, hungrig.Toby ist so ein hübscher Hund, mit seinen ausdrucksstarken Augen, und es gab oft Interessenten für ihn. Doch er hat solche Angst vor Menschen, dass wir ihn bisher nicht guten Gewissens vermitteln können. Er kommt in fremden Situationen in große Panik, die er nicht kontrollieren kann.Deshalb muss Toby vorerst bei uns bleiben, schade um einen so jungen Hund, der eigentlich so viele Möglichkeiten haben könnte.
