Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE

Mixed Breed · Male

Tilly is a 12-year-old black and white crossbreed weighing approximately 17kg, and Lucy is an 8-year-old black and tan crossbreed weighing around 12kg. These lovely ladies have spent many years together as devoted sisters. Sadly, they recently found themselves needing a new home after their owner passed away. With no family able to care for them, they came into the care of Islay Dog Rescue. Despite the significant changes they have experienced, both girls remain loving, affectionate companions who are looking for a special home where they can stay together as the bonded pair they have always been. Due to their ages and the fact that they have not previously lived with children, to our knowledge, we feel they would be best suited to a home without young children, or with dog-savvy children aged 13 years and over who understand and will respect their boundaries. Tilly and Lucy both walk beautifully on the lead and enjoy getting out and exploring the great outdoors. While they have always lived happily together, they may occasionally give a little bark when they see other dogs. However, they have shown no signs of aggression. It is therefore possible that they could live with a calm, respectful dog who would give them space and not place too many demands on them. Any introductions would need to be carried out carefully. They have not yet been cat tested, but this can be arranged if required.

About Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE

What life with Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE looks like

Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Islay Dog Rescue in Cumnock (Ayrshire).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Islay Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Islay Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Islay Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilly & Lucy AVAILABLE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
