Tilly

Poodle Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 7 years

22-10-26 Tilly is a very sweet but extremely nervous girly who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. Tilly will need plenty of time to settle into her new home, as she is not comfortable being handled at the moment. Her adopters will need to be patient and take things slowly, allowing her to go at her own pace so that she does not feel overwhelmed. She will need gentle encouragement and the chance to build trust in her own time. Tilly will need another kind and confident dog in her new home. This dog will be a much-needed support system for her, helping to guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Tilly has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to understand that these things may take time and be willing to work with her at a pace she can manage. Tilly's adopters will need to have ex-breeding experience to better understand her needs. She can live with older dog-savvy children that are sensible and understand she needs a quiet environment she can settle into. A calm environment, patient adopters and a reassuring canine companion will be important in helping her feel safe. Tilly is a very worried little girl who will need understanding and patience to help her adjust to a new way of life. We hope that with the right support and plenty of time, she will gradually learn to trust and begin to enjoy the love and comfort of a home of her own. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Tilly

What life with Tilly looks like

Tilly is an adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
