Toki

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Young · 1 year

This gorgeous girl is Toki! She is looking for her forever home where she can continue to flourish. At just 18 months old, she is full of life, love and endless enthusiasm. She’s a very sweet and friendly girl. She can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but with a little patience, she soon comes out of her shell and is more than ready for plenty of fuss. Like many young Staffies, she’s full of energy and absolutely loves to play. Toys are one of her favourite things, and she’s always up for a game. She’s a fun, giddy girl who will keep you smiling with her playful personality. She is still learning her manners and doesn’t quite understand personal space. She loves attention and will jump up to say hello. She’s also discovered that food on tables is very tempting and won’t think twice about jumping on the table and helping herself if given the chance! Her new adopter will need to be committed to continuing her training and setting clear, consistent boundaries. She can be strong on the lead, so she will benefit from ongoing lead training and an active home that can provide plenty of exercise, enrichment and positive guidance. She will need a private secure garden. Toki has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care and is very playful and giddy and doesn’t really know when to stop. We do feel she could potentially live with another dog that would tolerate her full-on behaviour following a successful meet and greet. (must be neutered). As she came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Toki

What life with Toki looks like

Toki is a medium-sized young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
