Toy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

🐾 Toy the Diamond is looking for his forever home: A powerful package with heart and mind! 🐾 With great sadness, the young dog Toy has had to leave his previous home due to health reasons of his owner. Therefore, we are urgently looking for an experienced foster home or a loving forever home for this charming whirlwind. Toy is a young dog full of energy, joy of living, and great potential. He is not a companion for couch potatoes, but an active partner who wants to explore the world together with his humans. Toy is extremely people-oriented, loves attention and lots of play. He likes to cozy up under a blanket when going to sleep. Throughout the day, he is very well-behaved when left alone and then quietly plays with his toys. He shows himself as a perfect student who learns quickly and brings great joy to work. Toy wants to please his humans and must also be mentally challenged. He already responds excellently to basic commands like sit, stay, and come. He patiently waits in the sit position while the food is being prepared and only goes to his bowl when he gets the corresponding release signal. He also walks well on a leash. Initially, he sometimes pulls a bit on a short leash, but responds immediately after a short reminder. Toy is a real charmer towards people, who wins over every heart with his loving nature. He generally gets along well with other dogs, but decides based on sympathy. If another dog doesn't suit him, he clearly shows it. As Toy is a real young dog, he sometimes overflows with energy. Here he needs people who can offer him security, structure, and loving consistency. He is looking for an active home that offers him not only long walks, but also mental work or dog sports to keep him sufficiently occupied. At the same time, he needs patient people who help him channel his youthful exuberance into the right direction and calm down. Toy is ready to go through thick and thin with his new humans. He is a loyal companion who is just waiting for someone to take him by the paw. Here is the video of Toy.

About Toy

What life with Toy looks like

Toy is a very small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
