Tuptuś - a dog for adoption - Poznań LOCATION: Poznań TUPTUŚ IS LOOKING FOR A HOME FOREVERThere are dogs that know what home is from the very beginning of their lives. Tuptuś was not one of them... For a long time, his whole world was a small, metal cage. He didn't go outside the "kennel", and he could forget about walks altogether. There was so little space in the cage that he didn't even have the opportunity to function normally...The first heat waves were about to come, so the heated metal would turn his kennel into a hell... Our foundation managed to intervene at the last moment and took Tuptuś away before the heat waves.Tuptuś had tragic conditions - he had green, dirty water in his bowl (probably rainwater), there were feces around, and his body was full of fleas. He was neglected, had stomach problems and constantly licked himself due to the enormous stress. He was deprived of the opportunity to live a normal life. Fortunately, we managed to do it. Today, Tuptuś is already safe, healthy, neutered, chipped and ready for adoption. He is about 2 years old and weighs about 12 kg.This is a dog in love with a person. He loves walks, loves petting and would like to be close to his caregiver all the time. He eagerly learns for meat treats - he can already give a paw. Outdoors, he is energetic and curious about the world, and at home he rests peacefully or walks step by step behind his human.Tuptuś is a dog with a past. Some new situations still stress him out, he is afraid of thunderstorms and new stimuli. When he is very scared, he may try to escape, which is why we are looking for him for a responsible, conscious home that will provide him with safety and give him time to further build his self-confidence. Fortunately, Tuptuś learns quickly and makes huge progress every day.We are looking for a home that will show him that life can be beautiful. A home where there will never be a lack of a full bowl, affection and a sense of security.Tuptuś currently lives in a temporary home in the vicinity of Poznań. Uwielbia spacery, kocha głaskanie i najchętniej cały czas byłby blisko swojego opiekuna. Niektóre nowe sytuacje nadal go stresują, boi się burzy i nowych bodźców. Tuptuś mieszka obecnie w domu tymczasowym w okolicach Poznania. About Tuptuś

What life with Tuptuś looks like

Tuptuś is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Psa Karmela in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tuptuś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tuptuś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psa Karmela handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tuptuś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tuptuś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psa Karmela will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tuptuś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tuptuś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psa Karmela early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tuptuś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
