Vinnie

Male · Young · 2 years

Vinnie was initially brought to us after straying for quite some time on the streets of Bristol. Naturally the change of being admitted to us was quite daunting for him and he struggled to trust his carers but with lots of care and patience from our Animal Care Team Vinnie gained some confidence and began to gently open up and trust humans again. In his foster home, he has really blossomed and has shown he absolutely loves the company of people he trusts, and loves to be near you demanding fuss. This sweet cat absolutely loves head scratches and will jump into your lap, meowing for attention. A quiet adult house, with few visitors would be most suitable for this beautiful boy, as he can be nervous of strangers, sudden movements and loud noises. He is currently on Gabapentin,( a behavioural medication to help support him) which he will be weaned off in his new home. About Vinnie

What life with Vinnie looks like

Vinnie is a young adult cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vinnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vinnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vinnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vinnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vinnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vinnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vinnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
