Węgielek

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

This dog is of middle age (about 10 years old). He currently lives in an apartment in a residential building, but he feels more comfortable when traveling to quieter areas outside Warsaw. He travels by car without any problems. He keeps the house clean, eliminates his bodily needs exclusively outdoors, doesn’t destroy anything, and calmly stays alone when left unsupervised. He has a favorite spot at home that serves as his safe haven. At home, he’s quiet and sleeps a lot. Węgielek enjoys affection, but only from people he knows well. He barks at strangers in the apartment, but after a while, he can be persuaded with treats. He’s not aggressive. He needs calm, patient caregivers. He could live either in a house with a garden or in an apartment, but in a quiet neighborhood—not in the city center. He’d probably get along well with a friendly male or female dog, though it’s essential to introduce them first. He also accepts cats. Węgielek is neutered, dewormed, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He’s partially blind in one eye, but this doesn’t interfere with his daily life. He takes medication for back pain—Librela (an injection once a month). He’s staying at a foster home in Ursynów, Warsaw.Gender: MaleBorn around 2013Size: Small/MediumSpaying/Neutering: YesContact: 603 762 594 / 512 237 880We want to find the best possible home for him, so we’ll ask interested applicants to fill out an adoption questionnaire: kundellos.pl/ankieta-adopcyjna/By adopting a dog, you take responsibility for the life of a living creature for the next dozen or so years. An animal is not a thing. We don’t give dogs away on chains! A condition of adoption is signing an adoption agreement, covering the costs of preventive care, and agreeing to possible pre- and post-adoption visits. It’s also a condition of adoption that the dog undergoes spaying or neutering within an agreed timeframe, provided this procedure hasn’t already been performed.

To psiak w średnim wieku (około 10 lat). About Węgielek

What life with Węgielek looks like

Węgielek is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Józefowie in Józefów.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Węgielek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Węgielek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Józefowie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Węgielek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Węgielek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Józefowie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Węgielek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Węgielek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Józefowie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Węgielek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
