Xena

Female · Adult · 4 years

29.06.2026 Xena is a very affectionate and attentive dog. She has a balanced temperament, walks nicely on the leash, and loves to please others. Xena always greets her canine companions in a friendly manner. Walks with other dogs are also completely trouble-free. We’re looking for active, dog-experienced people for this energetic and eager-to-learn dog. Her new owners can look forward to an exciting time together. As a Shepherd mix, Xena particularly needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation, so sufficient time and space must be available for this new family member. Xena is microchipped and fully vaccinated (rabies and combination vaccine). Would you like to get to know our wonderful Xena? Then we’d love to hear from you! 27.06.2026 A warm welcome to Switzerland, charming Xena! What a cheerful and friendly dog— I’m sure she’ll quickly find a loving home. On Monday, she’ll already be appearing in front of the camera for the “Tierisch” show; that will certainly help. We’ll keep you updated on this sweet little princess. 02.06.2026 Xena was found on the street and is now in our care. At first, she was still a bit cautious, but she’s making great progress every day. She already walks very well on the leash and approaches people openly and friendly. We suspect that Xena used to live in a home. With a little patience, understanding, and love, she’ll surely quickly become a loyal companion. Her friendly and balanced character makes her a wonderful dog for people who can give her the time she needs to settle in. Xena gets along well with other dogs and shows herself to be social and tolerant. We’ll keep you posted.

About Xena

What life with Xena looks like

Xena is a adult dog waiting at Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten in Arme Pfoten.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Xena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
