Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Zaira, also known as Zira, is a people-oriented, friendly, and calm companion. She is purebred, but has no papers or pedigree because she came from an unplanned litter. Unfortunately, Zira was kept under very poor conditions in her first year of life and was subsequently placed with a veterinarian. Due to her few bad habits from her negative life experiences, these can be "corrected" through loving training and the understanding and care of her new human family. Unfortunately, she must be surrendered because her current guardian, who had taken her in as a foster dog and cared for her, can no longer provide full-time care and meet her needs due to a move and a new job. Zira is friendly, people-oriented, child-friendly, and lively. She has a great personality but needs mental stimulation and should be adopted as a family member and integrated into daily life. She is house-trained and can also spend a few hours alone at home. She enjoys long walks and likes to play. She gets along well with fellow animals, but dislikes cats. Zira has basic training and knows some basic commands. However, she should continue to attend dog training classes to become more secure in her interactions with other animals. Zira needs loving, understanding, and dog-experienced people who would like to give her a wonderful home with lots of variety, where she can process her first difficult years of life and make great, positive new experiences. She is a family dog and needs attention and affection, which she returns with lots of love and loyalty. The current contact persons for further questions about Zira can be reached at 45 or 42. Zira is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be rehomed for an adoption fee of CHF 650.–.

About Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211

What life with Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 looks like

Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zaira (Rufname Zira) &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
