Ziggy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Reference No.: w-korfu-ziggy-m-0624 Update October 2025: Grown up in the shelter - not even one inquiry...Ziggy & Zoro are brothers and were found as puppies between trash bins. They know nothing else but the shelter – day after day, walls, fences, and waiting. A real home, continuous security, people who would guide them through life with unconditional love – they have never experienced this. And yet, they are so wonderful!!! Now they are about 1.5 years old, around 60 cm at shoulder height, and actually still young dogs who should experience so much more: walks, adventures, closeness, love. They have a lot to catch up on – and are ready to learn and discover everything if someone finally gives them the chance. Maybe you are exactly the person or family that changes their life. Share them, so that out of zero inquiries, THE ONE will finally come – and that one will change everything for Ziggy & Zoro. Update November 2024: Oh Ziggy - why is no one interested in you??? We so wish for Ziggy to be seen soon and not to be invisible anymore! Ziggy is currently about 60 cm tall and weighs around 30 kg and is not one of the pushy ones in the animal shelter. He is typically active and open-minded for a young dog and gets along well with other dogs. When will Ziggy finally get his chance? Update August 2024: Ziggy is still waiting for his chance. He is currently about 45 cm tall and weighs 17 kg and shows himself to be a rather calm representative in the animal shelter! June 2024: Ziggy, Zoro, and Zorbas are siblings. The brothers were found by an animal rescuer between trash bins, which were right next to a busy road. For their own safety, they were taken in by us. The rascals are alert, friendly, and playfully typical for puppies. We are happy about nice interested parties who can give them a loving home! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

20251003 06 Ziggy Oktober 2025 20251003 05 Ziggy Oktober 2025

About Ziggy

What life with Ziggy looks like

Ziggy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ziggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ziggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ziggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ziggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ziggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
