ZOLTAN - Gentle gaze and a heart full of love - who will show ZOLTAN the world patiently? 🍀 ZOLTAN - Gentle puppy with shepherd dog charm: Cuddly, dear fellow is looking for patient heart people The charming ZOLTAN has been waiting in the municipal animal shelter since July 2026 to be discovered by his people! At around 10 months old (born on 17.11.2025), the handsome puppy is at the perfect age to leave the dull shelter life behind and blossom by his family's side. Visually, ZOLTAN is reminiscent of a beautiful shepherd dog mix in a compact format: With his dark mask, the beautifully shaded fur and the loyal brown eyes, he immediately catches everyone's attention. With his current weight of about 17-20 kg, he has a great, strong medium-sized stature (shoulder height approx. 50-55 cm) and is almost fully grown. Characteristically, ZOLTAN is an absolutely good-hearted fellow. He is very friendly to people and enjoys petting in full measure. In new situations, he is initially a bit shy and cautious. The leash topic currently unsettles him very much - as can be seen in the pictures, he does not know much about it yet and lies down to appease. He therefore needs loving people who will show him step by step with a lot of patience, calmness and treats that the leash is nothing bad. ZOLTAN gets on well with other dogs. He shows himself to be extremely social and tolerant in the shelter, which is why a confident first dog in the new home would be a wonderful orientation aid for him. ZOLTAN travels to his new home vaccinated, chipped and with an EU pet passport after a positive preliminary inspection. Very friendly, loves petting, a bit shy ✓ Experienced dog people ✓ Gladly to another dog ✓ Would like to live in the countryside - No small children in the household - No urban environment ZOLTAN has been living in the municipal animal shelter since July 2026. We do not know anything about his background. Help ZOLTAN find a home - share this with your friends ❤️

About Zoltan

What life with Zoltan looks like

Zoltan is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoltan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoltan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoltan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoltan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zoltan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoltan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoltan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
