Adopt Zony

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Zony is a male dog around 2 years old. At first, he is unsure when walking with people and can sometimes go forward. But after a few days, the ice is broken, and Zony becomes a loyal companion, doing everything for his people and being incredibly affectionate. He also gets along well with fellow animals. He already knows some commands like sit, lie down, wait, and come. Additionally, he loves water immensely. Activities like agility or other sports are an absolute must for the little guy. So, with Zony, it will never be boring. Zony is a Croatian German Shepherd and an absolute representative of his breed. Those who know the breed know how clever, funny, and active these little fluff balls are. Croatian German Shepherds are great for active people who also want to engage with dog sports like agility, mantrailing, or other activities. Hiking, cycling, and so on, they would surely love. The black, curly heartbreakers bond very closely with their people and stick with them through thick and thin. They are very eager to learn and love working with their heads. For Zony, we are looking for a home without children. A quiet rural home would be perfect for him, as environments with a lot of hustle and bustle stress him out very much. In stressful situations, he can growl, show his teeth, and even snap. For this reason, a muzzle is absolutely necessary in new situations. His future owners should have experience with training shepherds, preferably also with insecure dogs, and be able to act calmly, consistently, and foresightfully. He needs time, patience, and continuous, sensitive training to gain security. A confident, relaxed single dog could also provide additional orientation and help him find more security in everyday life. Has Zony caught your interest?

About Zony

What life with Zony looks like

Zony is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
