Zora

Female · Senior · 9 years

Hello, I'm Zora. An older lady with character, a good dose of power, and a story that has thankfully taken a happy turn. ❤️ I came into the shelter via a distance. The people who looked after me didn't think my behavior was okay at all, and before I really understood what was going on, I suddenly found myself on the operating table with a uterine infection. It was a close call… 🥺 Luckily, veterinarian Nadia helped me through it, and by now I'm completely back to my old self. 💪🐾 I absolutely love walks! 🌿 I like to show my enthusiasm by demonstrating my own version of "take it easy on the lead." 😅 There's still quite a lot of power in this lady! 💪 So my new humans are welcome to stand firmly in their shoes and guide me in a calm, consistent, and positive way. Walking together should ultimately be something fun that we both enjoy. A garden is important to me. I want to be able to burn off my energy, run around, and simply be a dog. But note: my garden must have a sturdy, high fence. An ordinary low fence? I might just turn that into a sporting challenge. 😉

About Zora

What life with Zora looks like

Zora is a senior dog waiting at Dierenasiel Ninove in Ninove.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ninove handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ninove will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ninove early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
