ZOZI

Male · Adult · 4 years

Estimated birth date: February 2022 Brief info: people-oriented, friendly, cuddly, adventurous, cheerful, curious, family+, older kids+, male dogs+, female dogs+ Tierheimleiterin Kata is frequently contacted by animal protectors who are looking for places for dogs from euthanasia stations or shelters that cannot send the dogs abroad. And in Hungary itself, there are only limited chances for Fellnas to find a nice home. This happened again in April 2026, and Kata was asked if she couldn't take in 3 dogs from a station in a neighboring community. Kata couldn't say no, and so ZOZI came to the shelter as one of the three. The dog, estimated to have been born in February 2022, was found on the street – nothing is known about his background. But the sweet boy shows dachshund-like qualities as an approachable, cheerful, lively, curious, and adventurous little hound who simply delights when the caretakers take a little time for him. ZOZI gets along wonderfully with his fellow animals. For the dear ZOZI, we are now searching for a loving home where he can experience how wonderful a carefree dog life can be. Of course, he still needs to learn all the important things of a dog's daily life, but with the right support, he will surely learn everything quickly. Due to his size, he should not have to climb stairs. Experience with dachshunds would be advantageous. ZOZI is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport for his new home. Have you fallen in love with the sweet male dogs? Then we look forward to your message!. Suitable only for households with older children.

About ZOZI

What life with ZOZI looks like

ZOZI is a small adult dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting ZOZI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ZOZI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ZOZI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ZOZI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ZOZI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ZOZI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know ZOZI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
