Zumba

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 4 years

Zumba is a happy, sweet girl who is looking for her own golden basket. My life has undergone a significant change recently. Due to an accident, I broke my back leg. Unfortunately, my leg could not be saved and had to be amputated. That may sound harsh, but believe me: I absolutely won't let it stop me! When I came to DOA, my amputation was only about two months ago. You probably wouldn't have guessed that. I happily hop around, I'm still very strong and especially... very happy! With my three paws, I can get around just fine and I enjoy everything life has to offer. Before my accident, I also became a mom. I raised my puppies and they are all old enough to discover their own house now. And now it's finally my turn. I'm ready to find my own family and start a new chapter with them. I am a sweet and cuddly girl, although sometimes there is a small sharp edge to me. I find people super fun! At first, I sometimes need some time to get to know you, so give me that time and if you know me, I'd love to come to you for a hug. I also love to play. Especially a ball... I can't get enough of it! So much fun, that I'd rather not give it up at all. I sometimes want to trade for a very nice treat, but even that's not always a guarantee. My people will have to be a bit creative with me, because my love for my ball is sometimes just a little too big. I also love a floss rope. Together, having fun with the rope? Yes, that makes me very happy! Unfortunately, I don't like other dogs very much and make that clear by barking and growling. That's why I'm looking for a home where I can be the only dog and where my people take that into account. But people? Super fun! So I'm looking for sweet people who will take me as I am: a happy three-legged girl with a big heart, a strong will, a love for balls and rope pulling and lots of hugs to give. My past may have cost me a leg, but it certainly didn't take away my happiness. I'm ready to find my golden basket.

Hoi!

About Zumba

What life with Zumba looks like

Zumba is a large adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zumba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zumba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zumba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zumba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zumba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zumba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zumba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
