Amaretti

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 2 years

Hello... I’m Amaretti, and I’m a very special little girl who is hoping that, one day soon, she’ll discover just how lovely life can be. ❤️When I first arrived, I was very shy and unsure of people and the world around me. Everything has felt a little scary, and I’m still learning that humans can be kind and that I don’t need to be frightened. I’m going to need someone very patient and understanding who will give me the time, space and reassurance I need to come out of my shell.I may not be the sort of girl who rushes over to greet you straight away, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of love to give. I just need someone who understands that trust takes time and who will let me take things at my own pace. I’m hoping that with gentle encouragement, plenty of kindness and a quiet, loving home, I’ll slowly learn to relax and show everyone the lovely girl I am underneath my shyness.I have, however, shown just how caring I can be. I’ve been a fantastic mummy to my beautiful babies, putting them first and doing everything I could to keep them safe and happy. I’ve been such a devoted mum, and now that my little ones are growing up and ready for their own adventures, I think it’s finally my turn to be cared for.I need someone who will show me the same kindness and patience that I’ve shown my babies. Someone who won’t expect too much from me too quickly, but who will celebrate every little step forward — whether that’s sitting a little closer, accepting a gentle fuss or simply feeling brave enough to relax in the same room.I know I have a lot of learning to do, but I also know that, with the right person by my side, life doesn’t have to be so scary. Somewhere inside me is a sweet little girl just waiting to feel safe, loved and understood.I may need a little longer to find my confidence, but I promise that every tiny moment of trust will be incredibly special. ❤️ NAWT Hertfordshire Tylers Way Watford-By-Pass Hertfordshire Watford WD25 8WT Choose an item from our Amazon wish-list and it will come straight to us! About Amaretti

What life with Amaretti looks like

Amaretti is a very small young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amaretti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amaretti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amaretti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amaretti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amaretti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amaretti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amaretti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
