Adopt Avra

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Avra - the gentle soul with a big heart Avra is a young, beautiful dog who touches every heart with her loving and gentle nature. She was found in Mesagros, where she lived freely for a long time and had won a special place in the lives of the people there. Especially the children from the local school had taken a liking to her: Every day Avra faithfully accompanied them to school and patiently waited on the schoolyard until finally breaktime came. Then she beamed with joy when the children ran to her, petted her, and spent time with her. For Avra, these moments were the greatest happiness. She meets all people kindly and openly - whether big or small. With her calm, loving nature, she immediately gives trust and warmth. Avra also had a close animal friend by her side, a small male dog with whom she shared her free life. Despite lacking a home, Avra appeared content and simple. However, life on the street has become increasingly dangerous, and so she was finally able to move into the animal shelter, where she now waits for her own family. We wish Avra an active and loving home with people who enjoy being outdoors and have fun discovering the world together with her. A friendly dog companion would certainly make her very happy, because she loves company - both from people and other animals. A garden where she can relax, play, and simply be a dog would be a small dream for her. Avra is not looking for a perfect family - she is looking for people with heart who show her what a real home feels like. Whoever gives her this chance will get a loyal companion for life. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or foster home. This behavior does not appear immediately upon arrival. Some may initially react with shyness to the new situation. Animals from animal protection all have a past that was often not pleasant or even cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to arrive and to build trust. Please be patient and give your animal the necessary time!

About Avra

What life with Avra looks like

Avra is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Avra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Avra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Avra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Avra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Avra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Avra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Avra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
