Mocht je nu denken: ‘Wat lijkt hij op Mick, Michael en Charly’, dan klopt dat want het zijn broers van hetzelfde nest. Al lijkt Codex wel het meest op een Duitse herder. Er is recent afstand gedaan van de broers en Charly zijn jullie wellicht al eerder tegengekomen aangezien hij al eerder was doorgegeven en vervolgens als zwerfdier is binnengekomen en niet meer is opgehaald. Hun vader is een Duitse Herder afkomstig uit een werklijn en hun moeder is een Argentijnse Dog, die doof is. We kunnen met zekerheid zeggen dat Codex niet doof is. Codex is een lieve hond, niet de grootste held met wel een enorm zacht karakter. Hij reageert doorgaans vriendelijk naar alle verzorgers, maar kan in het begin mensen wegblaffen uit schrik. Hij heeft even tijd nodig om contact te leggen en zich comfortabel te voelen bij mensen. Hij is onderzoekend en op zijn tempo nieuwsgierig. Hij komt wel graag bij mensen en wanneer hij even heeft kunnen snuffelen, dan is het ijs meestal snel gebroken. Wanneer is iets eng is, dan zoekt hij veel steun bij mensen als hij zich goed voelt bij je. Samen in de zetel zitten en knuffelen zijn twee van zijn hobby’s. Speeltjes zijn niet breed gekend, maar pluche knuffels vindt hij al wel eens tof om in zijn bek te pakken. Vleesjes vindt hij erg lekker en hier wil hij ook graag iets voor doen. Hij kent het commando ‘zit’. Wanneer hij met momenten onzeker is of iets gebeurt wat hij niet prettig vindt, dan kiest hij er in een binnenruimte tot nu toe voor om zelf weg te gaan en steun te zoeken bij de mensen. Buiten blaft hij wel snel dingen weg wanneer hij zich ongerust voelt en hij is ook steeds de eerste die begint met blaffen. We verwachten dat hij kan blaffen naar buurhonden en onbekende bezoekers/mensen. Hij kan prima geïntroduceerd worden aan mensen, maar we dienen wel rekening te houden met de karaktereigenschappen van zijn ouders. Codex is nog enorm aan het groeien en is nu al erg groot (31 kg). Een volwassen Codex wordt een stevige man, dus mensen die hem fysiek kunnen houden is absoluut nodig. Wellicht kan een leuke, stabiele teef hem ook helpen om de normale wereld wat minder eng te vinden. Een huis met een tuin is noodzakelijk en verder zoeken we een thuis met eventueel grotere kinderen zonder te druk sociaal leven.
