Cronos

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Cronos has been living in Bucharest with one of our volunteers for several months. They reside in an apartment building in Bucharest together with two cats. Originally, they wanted to adopt Cronos, but unfortunately, Cronos could not get along with the cats, and the atmosphere remains tense even after this time. Cronos must therefore always be in a different room from the cats. As he is very people-oriented and very much likes to be near his people, we wish for him a home without cats, as he is a dream dog beyond his cat phobia. Although he is older, he has some health issues that are kept under control with medication. He had episodes of bladder infection, which were treated with the antibiotic Kesium in three treatment cycles. Additionally, Cronos suffers from osteoarthritis – a common condition in adult dogs – which is well controlled with joint supplements (Arthrovet) and treatment with Trocoxil. He was also examined with ultrasound; no further conditions were found. His foster mother describes him as follows: Cronos is a dog with the soul of a child. Although he has spent many years in an animal shelter, his joy is still that of a two-year-old puppy: pure, honest, and contagious. He is enthusiastic about every moment he spends with people and lives his freedom with wonderful energy. He is very eager to learn and works well with it. He already knows the commands "sit," "stay," "spin" (spin), and walking on a leash, and reacts very well when gently and consistently guided. He loves playing and interacting. For him, the shared time is the greatest reward. One almost always sees him playing with his ball or sleeping in his arms. Cronos loves people and also visitors, he is extremely clingy, cuddly, and always gives kisses. He seeks closeness and connection, and his loyalty is felt from the first moment. As he desires the full attention of his family, Cronos would feel most comfortable in a home without other pets. Cronos was a classic stray and was brought to the animal shelter Odai by the dog catchers. He has been there since January 2024 and it seems as if he is actually waiting for his own home in his advanced age.

About Cronos

What life with Cronos looks like

Cronos is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cronos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cronos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cronos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cronos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cronos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cronos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cronos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
