Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Dobermann-Labradormix I am male, neutered, and born around 2004. I am approximately 55 cm tall. I have been waiting since January 2019 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Alwin is a surrender dog from the surrounding area. After a medical round of renewal, he cautiously sets out to find a sponsor so that we can find a foster home or, better yet, a new home where someone can give him his well-deserved retirement. The sponsors support us in balancing his current and future care until he might find his great fortune with us. His blood work and teeth are in top condition, his neutering was benign. At the moment, he receives nutritional supplements and no medications, along with a blood-feeding therapy and walks to build muscle. An apartment with a bit of green space would be ideal, but it is not a condition. It would be nice if the treatments could be continued. Previously, he lived with a female dog, which unfortunately did not make it to our care. Here, he lives in dog society with a sweet lady dog and is the perfect gentleman. He accepts being corrected and is courteous in his dealings. A nice life with a female dog is therefore no problem, with male dogs, one should try it out. Cats do not interest him at the moment, but one should also check if that works with him, we tend to see no problem there. Occasionally, his musical talent comes through, and he sings a little ditty for all the roommates, who then join in with a yodel. Alwin is a nice and affectionate black Dobermann-Labradormix, he is captivating. The practice would have appreciated him younger, his walks he runs bravely and briskly, if the cuddling is not too short. Overall, a modest black Dobermann boy in a suit, usually house-trained, a good car companion, and one who also stays well on his own after getting used to it. Who would like to make our Alwin happy again and enjoy the summer with the charming fellow?

About Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin

What life with Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin looks like

Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobermann-Labrador Mischling Alwin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
