Dora

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 16 months

Dora – a senior dog, who still has a great deal of love in her Dora is about 16 years old and is a true dog grandmother. Although she is hard of hearing, she still sees well and with that gaze she seems to be looking for her person – someone for life, for a peaceful autumn of life. She knows home life and finds herself well in it. She is calm, gentle and loves people very much – she prefers to spend time by a person's side, enjoying their presence and closeness. She functions well in a pack, so she can live with other dogs, if they are calm and not imposing. Due to her age and joints, we are looking for a home with a garden where she will be able to move freely without having to climb stairs or exert herself too much. Dora doesn't need much – a warm place, peace and a person by her side. In return, she gives something most precious – a quiet, peaceful presence and a great deal of canine gratitude.

W zamian daje coś najcenniejszego – cichą, spokojną obecność i ogrom psiej wdzięczności.

About Dora

What life with Dora looks like

Dora is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
