Focaccia

Female · Young · 1 year

Hey Focaccia, here I am and with a bunch of other rabbits, I was rescued from the worst place on earth. We knew no daylight, clean water or enough food. We lived on wire mesh and had barely enough space to turn around. The only thing we had was each other 💚 At DOA, we have to get used to a lot because we've only just arrived. Soft blankets, nutritious vegetables, space to jump and run, we didn't know what we were seeing!! Eventually, we're all looking for a nice home where we'll be pampered like here and make up for all the missed love! We can move in a group but would also like to date a rabbit looking for a (new) girlfriend. We don't know how old we are but I think around 1 year. Despite our past, we are quite affectionate and very curious but we still have to learn a few things. Because we've only known bars for so long, all new materials are now fun to nibble on. Wooden fences, plastic house, rubber shoe sole from the caregiver... We're also busy with toilet training. That's a lot of trouble!! Before, we peed and pooped, and it just fell through the bars under us. So there's still some work to be done. And lastly, we're not used to vegetables, but apparently they're very important for us. That's why we get a very small piece every day so our stomach can get used to it. Well, enough said. Who oh who comes to meet us and gives us the life we've always missed?

NL·Show original

About Focaccia

What life with Focaccia looks like

Focaccia is a small young adult dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Focaccia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Focaccia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Focaccia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Focaccia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Focaccia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Focaccia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Focaccia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
