Goose

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 3 years

Goose has been in foster with us for a little while, whilst we get him back up to peak health, and is very settled in his foster home so may find the change to a new home a little unsettling. Therefore, we are looking for understanding, dedicated owners who will give him time to come out of himself into the Goose we all know and love! Goose does have some ongoing medical needs which do require medication and a special diet for his skin which we are happy to discuss with his new family. If you can spare some room on your sofa for this big boy to squeeze in the middle, get him added to your favourite list today! Handsome... check! Goofy... check! On the hunt for his forever home... CHECK! Goose is ready to find his forever home with a patient and understanding family. He can be a little worried boy initially, but after a few meets and greets he soon warms up and shows off his brilliant, characterful self. When you’re in the ‘Goose Gang’ you’ll see his affectionate, giddy personality come shining through! Goose's foster carers, to put it simply, adore Goose and say he is an amazing easy going house guest, he is house trained, travels amazingly in the car, enjoys trips to the local pub/café and enjoys saying hi to new friends both canine and human alike when out and about. He can be a little unsure about visitors when they first visit his home, so will need a space initially away from guests whilst they get in the home and settled.

About Goose

What life with Goose looks like

Goose is a large young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Darlington in Sadberge.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goose, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goose?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Darlington handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goose on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goose if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Darlington will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goose already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goose isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Darlington early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goose and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
