Greta

Female · Puppy · 9 months

Greta – a young, lively puppy looking for warmth and security Greta is a cheerful bodeguero puppy just 9 months old, with a heart full of vitality and a strong desire for love. Her start in life was difficult: she was stolen by gypsies to be used for breeding, but fortunately we were able to rescue her in time and bring her to safety. Despite what she has experienced, Greta shows admirable resilience. She is lively, playful and has a very good temperament. People are her anchor – she feels safest in their presence and enjoys attention, cuddles and companionship. Other dogs make her a bit uncertain, but with patience and gentleness she slowly learns that she doesn't have to be afraid. Because Greta is still so young, and it gets too cold here for her to spend the winter, we hope she will find a warm home soon. A place where she can not only literally warm up, but also grow, play and finally lead the carefree puppy life she deserves. Do you want to welcome a playful puppy into your home? Email us and we will be happy to help you further. Be Kind To Every Kind.

About Greta

What life with Greta looks like

Greta is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Dogs Behind Bars in Belgium.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Greta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Greta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Behind Bars handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Greta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Greta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Behind Bars will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Greta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Greta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Behind Bars early rather than rehoming privately; they know Greta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
