Grüße von Mia

Mixed Breed · Female

From Mias new owners came this long email. Many thanks! "Hallo hallo, dear animal shelter team! Here is the mixed-breed female dog "Mia". On Friday, I was picked up by my family and at first I was very shy about my new surroundings. Now, I already run around the house curiously and explore every corner and edge. My Frauchen 1 I always look at with great joy and wait for our first big walk. Then I immediately take off and would love to run a marathon… The food tastes really good because it is prepared with lots of love – Mmmmmh! The boys in the family are still not so friendly to me. But I will get to know the two of them. If, however, people come into the house without ringing the doorbell first, I have to defend my Frauchen with a bark – whether the "intruders" are family members or not ;-). I love all the dogs in the neighborhood and want to play with each one… The small animals in my new family are very exciting – I even barked at the hamster in the first night. Now, I am not interested in it anymore ;-). The massages I get every day are so much that I turn onto my back and want to be stroked everywhere. Have you ever had a palm massage? It is heaven on earth! There I immediately stretch out all four at once – unfortunately, the "stroker" only has two hands… Ah, and SOCKS! I love lying around with fluff socks. If a pair is on the chair (definitely not for me, but ready for putting on…), I grab them and my Frauchen always finds them on my sleeping spot. A little wet, but not broken! Now, a cuddly toy has been entrusted to me, which always snuggles with me. With it, I then sleep so deeply that I even snore :D.

About Grüße von Mia

What life with Grüße von Mia looks like

Grüße von Mia is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Horka in Horka.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grüße von Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grüße von Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Horka handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grüße von Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grüße von Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Horka will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grüße von Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grüße von Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Horka early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grüße von Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
