Gvenda

German Shepherd · Female · Puppy

The pretty Hovawart mixed-breed female dog Gvenda was picked up off the street and brought to our Hungarian partner shelter. Since 21.03.2026, Gvenda has been in Berlin, in a foster home. There, she lives harmoniously with 4 other dogs (3 Chihuahuas and one German Shepherd Mix) and a cat. Gvenda is a delicate soul with a calm character. She is initially skeptical and even fearful of new things, momentarily freezing or quickly retreating to her resting place at home. The pretty one needs time to get used to new situations. Once she has internalized them, it is no longer a problem. She just needs her time, which her new family should also give her. Gvenda shows herself to be very cuddly in the meantime. She is initially cautious around unfamiliar people, but once she trusts them, she will come and get her cuddles from them too. With other dogs, regardless of gender, size, or breed, she is friendly. She is open, but she does not like pushy dogs at first. However, these dogs understand that. Play attempts are already beginning to happen. The patience of the young German Shepherd Mix in the foster home has paid off. She gets along very well with the cat in the foster home, and she would love to sniff it, but she mostly keeps her distance and does it discreetly. Children should be older, able to understand, and not too hectic. This can certainly be assessed during a personal meeting. Gvenda enjoys walking in a quiet environment and walks well on a leash. In the foster home, she has shown herself to be house-trained from the beginning. The sweetie is not a barker, but of course, she is a dog and can bark sometimes. She has no problem with car rides and can currently stay alone for an hour with the fellow animals without causing any trouble. This should, of course, be continuously trained in her new family. For Gvenda, we wish for kind-hearted people with a house or at least an apartment with garden access. A place where she can first settle in peacefully within the safety of four walls. The living environment should be quite green. It would be nice on the outskirts of Berlin or in the surrounding area. Gvenda is a truly beautiful female dog with a very delicate soul. Once she has earned their trust, she will surely bring much joy to her people. The pretty one will, of course, be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, examined by a veterinarian, and provided with an EU pet passport. As always, we point out that a dog from overseas animal rescue needs time, patience, and a loving welcome. New impressions, new routines, and new bonds should be allowed to grow slowly. Whoever is ready to embark on this journey together will be rewarded with a particularly deep connection. About Gvenda

What life with Gvenda looks like

Gvenda is a small puppy/kitten german shepherd dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gvenda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gvenda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gvenda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gvenda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gvenda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gvenda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gvenda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
