Adopt Indie

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

Hi everyone, I’m Indie! I’m looking for a home with my mum China. My personality: I can be a little nervous at first but once I get to know you I am friendly. I like some little human contact but I am not a lap cat. To win me over I love dreamies and lix-e-lix! I am very close to my mum My ideal home: I would like a home where it is quiet relaxed and calm, If I have to share my home with children I would like them to be over 13. I haven’t been around other cats apart from my mum, so we would like to be the only pets in the house. Access to outdoors: Once I have settled in, I would be happy being an indoor cat. Toileting: I am litter-trained, I prefer wood pellet litter Did you know: Black cats can change colour with the sun and turn a dark coppery brown! Our adoption fee is £225

About Indie

What life with Indie looks like

Indie is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Indie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
