Adopt Jojo

Mixed Breed · Male

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: foster home in Burgdorf (Niedersachsen) Size / Weight: approx. 41 cm shoulder height at 12.8 kg Else: neutered, microchipped with EU ID, vaccinated and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases Temperament: very loving, still a bit insecure, compatible with fellow animals New home: patience, empathy, no expectations, enclosed garden, rural surroundings What Jojo can already do: quite well on the leash, snuggling, and relaxing Relocation fee: 450 Euro On the foster home in Burgdorf / Niedersachsen Jojo is an incredibly handsome and lovable dog who was cruelly abandoned in Spain. With the help of a "ticket out of hell," Jojo was rescued and is now finally beginning a new, hopeful chapter of life. The cheerful and curious Jojo has not yet had the chance to learn much. Many situations and stimuli were unfamiliar and simply too much for him. He tried to cover his insecurity with overflowing energy, much like a "puppet clown." In these moments, he would jump around people because he simply didn't know how to deal with all the impressions. At the foster home, Jojo is already learning to better control this stimulus overload, and he does an excellent job from the very first day. It is very helpful for Jojo when someone takes him for a short walk on the leash and signals with a calm, authoritative presence: "I'm taking over for you now, you can relax." Jojo is learning step by step to calm down and orient himself to a relaxed daily routine. The quiet dog companions at his foster home give him security and show him how beautiful calmness can be. With other dogs, Jojo is very compatible, showing himself to be social, friendly, and more submissive. Behind his lively nature lies a dog who primarily yearns for security, safety, and inner peace. Jojo enjoys it very much when his human gives him orientation and shows him that he can relax. In particularly exciting situations, a calm, authoritative guidance is immensely helpful to him. If Jojo is rehomed with security, he can wonderfully relax and trust his human with great gratitude. Jojo also masters walks well now. He likes to walk by his primary caregiver's side and is well-behaved on the leash. She gives him security and support, like an invisible thread that shows him: "You are not alone." For our special Jojo, we wish loving people with heart, patience, and empathy. People who continue to give him security, convey calmness, and want to discover the beautiful sides of life with him. Jojo has so much love to give and will surely be a wonderful companion for life with his grateful, gentle nature. About Jojo

What life with Jojo looks like

Jojo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jojo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jojo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jojo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jojo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jojo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jojo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jojo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
