adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Kafka can travel directly to his own home! His story: Bistrita, Romania. Warning: Sugar shock. Who wouldn't be weak at a glance like that? The little Kafka with the big name is on the lookout for his people. Kafka and his seven siblings Bernd, Mave, Soul, Cheddar, Leno, Jim Knopf, and Kuddel were caught together with their mother Amra by Meda on a field in front of their house and brought to safety. Kafka is a bit skeptical towards people and still cautiously observes his surroundings. But just like his siblings, he shows a playful puppy-like behavior and can already wrap people around his little paws. But who can resist that look? Kafka's mother is about 50 cm tall and it is likely that Kafka will also grow to be medium-sized. Kafka is looking for people who don't expect much from him and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a mishap shouldn't be held against him and Kafka should always be guided with a positive and reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of these little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly train. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Once Kafka is old enough, he can travel to his new home vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He will also have his EU pet passport in his luggage. Kafka would also be happy to have a foster home. Would you take Kafka by the paw and go through life with him? Then go, Kafka is looking forward to your request. With your nametag sponsorship, you, Charlotte, have enabled Kafka to start a better future. Thank you for that! As of: 01.04.

Stand: 01.04.2024

About Kafka

What life with Kafka looks like

Kafka is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kafka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kafka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kafka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kafka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kafka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kafka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kafka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
