Konan

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Konan is searching for his happiness. The small Konan did not have an easy start in life. Already at the age of only eight weeks, he was surrendered to a Spanish shelter. It quickly became clear that the young dog is deaf and severely visually impaired. However, Konan is not discouraged! Fortunately, he was first moved to a Spanish foster home, where he was lovingly cared for. In January 2026, he was initially sent back to the shelter, where he was very unhappy, so he was allowed to move in with our Pamela, who lovingly takes care of him until he finally finds his people. Konan is on the search for a forever home, where he can lead a fulfilled and happy life as a dog despite his disability. Konan shows typical puppy behavior, playful, curious, and full of imagination - just as one would expect from a young dog. He loves exploring new things, cuddling with his people, and experiencing small adventures. Konan will be a large dog, already now (February 2026) he weighs a proud 25 kilograms, which means future owners should be ready to handle a larger dog. Konan is an absolute heartbreaker, who can win people over immediately. He has an overbite, which does not bother him, but he also seems to have hip problems, which does not affect his cheerfulness. Despite this, this lovable heartbreaker deserves to find his people and get a home where he can be happy. For Konan we are looking for empathetic, patient, and experienced dog people, who feel confident in showing a puppy with special needs the world. His disabilities mean above all that you have to communicate things differently to him - but not less lovingly or successfully. With clear structures, positive reinforcement and time, Konan can learn to move confidently in his environment and build trust. Whoever gets involved with Konan gets a special dog: one who, despite his limitations, is full of zest for life and captures hearts by storm. Would you like to illuminate Konan's future brightly and show him how beautiful a loving home can be? Contact his adoption officer if you would like to give him a home, or help with a foster placement. Here is Konan's video. Here is Video 2.

About Konan

What life with Konan looks like

Konan is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Konan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Konan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Konan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Konan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Konan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Konan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Konan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
