Linda

Podenco · Female · Young · 2 years

Linda - A Dream for Xarnego Fans Linda was lucky enough to travel to Germany in July 2025 and found a home quickly. Unfortunately, it has become clear that there are serious conflicts with a female dog in the existing pack. With great sadness, Linda is now looking for her humans again - people who can give her the security, patience and understanding she needs. The beautiful female dog, a Podenco, brings not only her elegant appearance but also typical characteristics of these sensitive dogs. Linda is initially cautious, easily startled and needs some time to build trust. However, once you have won her heart, she shows herself to be incredibly loving, affectionate, attentive and attached. She loves her humans very much and would like to be near them all the time. Due to an old injury, Linda had a front leg amputated in Spain. However, this does not stop her at all - Linda is lively, active and masters her daily life with great joy and surprising lightness. Anyone who meets her quickly realizes that she is in no way limited by this. In daily life, Linda is a pleasant companion. She is housebroken, knows the basics of small dog behavior, loves to ride in a car and can easily spend several hours alone - she simply relaxes and sleeps through the time. At night, she sleeps soundly as long as she feels safe near her people. Linda gets along well with most other dogs and likes to orient herself around confident companions. She enjoys playing and romping with them. Nevertheless, her new home should be experienced with dogs and able to read her body language well. It is also important to know that Linda shows a strong possessiveness over food and her pronounced hunting instinct should not be underestimated. Children should not live in the household, as Linda is afraid of children. Loud noises, music or brass music also greatly unsettle her. Therefore, we are looking for her a quiet, rather rural home with patient people who have experience in dealing with rather timid dogs. Linda is not a female dog that moves through life carefree right away. But she is one that deeply bonds with her humans, wants to learn and becomes more courageous with the right guidance. Anyone who is ready to give her time and does not pressure her will have a loyal, sensitive and very special companion by their side.

About Linda

What life with Linda looks like

Linda is a large young adult podenco dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Linda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Linda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Linda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Linda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Linda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Linda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Linda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
