Lino

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Male dog LINO, born around mid-2024, approximately 35 cm tall at the shoulder and weighing about 8–10 kg; looking for a foster home or caregiving arrangement. Lino is a young male dog, born around summer 2024, who quickly wins hearts with his sweet and sociable nature. He’s friendly, open-minded, and gets along well with other dogs. In new or unfamiliar situations, Lino currently still appears somewhat excited and easily distracted—first he likes to thoroughly explore everything before turning his attention back to his people. With a bit of time and routine, however, he’ll surely calm down and gain confidence. Lino comes with a bit of history: just a few months ago, he had an accident in which he broke his left hind leg. The leg was surgically repaired. At first, he hardly used it at all; now, the metal implant has already been removed, and he’s able to use the leg again. You can still notice a slight limp, and this will probably remain noticeable. Despite this, Lino is a cheerful, life-loving dog who’s ready to start his new life. He’s looking for people who will lovingly accompany him, provide him with security, and avoid physically overexerting him while he continues to recover. Lino is a special little guy who, despite his disability, is full of joy and simply wants to feel at home. Who will give him the chance for a loving home? We do not place dogs in highly urban residential areas or in families with small children. Please submit an adoption inquiry only if you’re able to take him on at the time indicated in the text and have already discussed welcoming a new family member with your household (including any other involved parties such as employers, landlords, or temporary caregivers). Please note that the dogs described here are currently staying at their large-scale foster care facility or animal shelter in a limited, secure environment with little contact with other people or environmental stimuli outside the property. The descriptions are based on their behavior in this familiar setting. In particular, puppies and young dogs are still developing their personalities. To successfully adjust to a new home, they’ll need time, patience, and loving guidance to get used to their new surroundings and various stimuli—and to grow into confident, well-adjusted dogs.

About Lino

What life with Lino looks like

Lino is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kreta Hunde (Tierschutz Heraklion) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
