Adopt LITTLE CHARLIE

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Name: Little Charlie Estimated birth date: April 2015 Brief information: curious, open, affectionate, people-oriented, more comfortable now, Senior+, Family+, Youth+, Male+, Female+ *Little Charlie is waiting for visitors in his current home in 34311 Naumburg near Kassel.* Charlie, originally from a Hungarian shelter, is a real gentleman in the best of ages: charming, affectionate and with plenty of personality. He develops a close bond with his humans, but also greets visitors openly and friendly - after all, there might be some cuddles somewhere. And he collects them with great dedication. In general: where there is human, there is also Charlie - preferably very close, gladly with physical contact and always ready for a cuddling session. Due to his age, he now takes it a bit more calmly and has perfected the art of relaxed living. His favorite spot? A warm sunbeam, from which he can see everything. Interestingly, he particularly enjoys the kitchen: there he lies obediently on his place and observes carefully - maybe something will fall for him by chance 😉. Speaking of food: that's his big passion. Charlie would probably start a gourmet blog if he could. However, since his stomach is somewhat sensitive, snacks are rather the exception - much to his slight disappointment. He handles walks on a leash quite well, but you can tell his age: after about half an hour, he is done with adventures and heads back towards the sofa. When meeting unfamiliar dogs, Charlie sometimes shows his excited side - he comments on the situation loudly, but quickly calms down once the other dog is out of sight. With familiar dogs, he is completely uncomplicated and even enjoys joint walks or small game sessions. A real plus point: Charlie is a relaxed travel companion. Whether car, bus, train or bike trailer - he is happy to be there and sometimes even sleeps through the trip relaxed. In his current family, he feels generally comfortable, but living with a young child is too stressful for him. He clearly shows that he needs more calm and distance. Since more family members are coming soon, the situation will become too hectic and at the same time too restrictive for him - although he loves company. Therefore, Charlie is looking for a quiet home with understanding people. Children should be older and know how to respect animals. Whether rural or urban - he knows both. What is most important to him is a relaxed environment, where he can be present, observe and be himself. He would be very happy about a garden or balcony with a sunny favorite spot. Stairs should be as few as possible - or there is an elevator for the little master. Despite his age, Charlie is still mentally alert and can be motivated to small tricks with a few treats. However, his body needs some support: thanks to his pain injection (every 5-7 weeks), he feels much better. Little Charlie leaves castrated, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and with EU pet passport to his new home. Anyone who wants to give this special little rascal a few more beautiful years is welcome to get in touch. You can do this best by using the self-disclosure (or alternatively the contact form).

About LITTLE CHARLIE

What life with LITTLE CHARLIE looks like

LITTLE CHARLIE is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LITTLE CHARLIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LITTLE CHARLIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LITTLE CHARLIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LITTLE CHARLIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LITTLE CHARLIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LITTLE CHARLIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LITTLE CHARLIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
