Skadi

Rottweiler · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Help, I'm looking for a loving home. Hello, my name is Skadi. I am a three-year-old Rottweiler female with a lineage (from Tengen). I am unspayed and have a cycling period about three times a year. Health-wise, I have no issues and I am in top condition, smart, eager to learn, and generally very good-natured. I especially love children, but I would be grateful if my protective instincts could be toned down, as that would make me more relaxed. The children in my family are sacred to me, and I want to protect them. I need clear leadership, consistent quiet zones, and rules that apply even in my own home. I only want to be with people who are knowledgeable about dogs and will make decisions for me, otherwise, I will take charge and decide my daily routine, including walks. If I receive leadership from my people, I am a top loyal companion in everyday life. However, I must mention that I have a strong prey drive. Before finding my current home, I was allowed to hunt mice. I usually respond reliably to a stop signal. Exceptions are cats, which I do not like. Fellow animals can also be a problem sometimes, especially if I am fixated on them. I have learned a lot now, and with a bit of patience, love, and understanding for my insecurity, I am confident that my interactions will improve over time. My current master does not want to give me up, but he can see that it is best for both of us. When I was allowed to live with my current master, there was a specific plan for our cohabitation. However, fate threw our plans into disarray. My master had to increase his work hours to 100%, and is currently managing the household with a child. Additionally, I am no longer allowed to go to work, as the Canton ZH banned me there at the beginning of the year. The time my master has left for me, aside from managing the household, is spent with me. This makes me very happy, but I would like to be supported more. The worry about what will happen to me if no solution is found for me often keeps my master from sleeping well. So, my master would be very grateful for offers from people who could envision living with me. For further questions, contact Patrick Weber at 9247 Henau, my master: 16 I thank you for your attention. P.S. It would already be helpful if someone could have some time for me.

About Skadi

What life with Skadi looks like

Skadi is a adult rottweiler dog waiting at Stiftung Tierheim Nesslau in Nesslau.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Skadi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Skadi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stiftung Tierheim Nesslau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Skadi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Skadi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stiftung Tierheim Nesslau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Skadi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Skadi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stiftung Tierheim Nesslau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Skadi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
