adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The handsome Loki was found injured near Bistrita after being attacked by other dogs. He sustained injuries to his eye and snout, as well as a broken paw. Fortunately, he has recovered well and is in good health now. The broken paw has healed, though the break did not heal perfectly. Therefore, Loki still limps slightly, but this does not hinder him and he lives his everyday life without any trouble. Loki is an approximately two-year-old male dog with a shoulder height of around 45–50 cm and a weight of about 20 kg. Thus, he belongs to the medium-sized dogs. His striking fur pattern in various shades of color makes him a real looker. His shortened tail also gives him a special charm. With his warm brown eyes and his loyal gaze, he immediately wins people's hearts. Initially, Loki shows a shy side towards humans but is fundamentally friendly, open, and lovable. With patience, he will soon shed his initial reserve. At the shelter, he is unproblematic and playful with other animals. It is likely that Loki has never experienced what a home of his own can be like, and many everyday things are still unfamiliar to him. Leash manners, house training, car rides, or fixed routines – all of these things probably need to be learned. Therefore, we are looking for loving and patient people who can give him time, accompany him safely, and show him how wonderful a dog's life can be. Since Loki is likely a mixed breed of herding dog, we wish for him a home with people who are already familiar with the special characteristics of these dogs or are willing to learn about them. Herding dogs often bring an independent nature, alertness, and a strong character. They need people who meet them with understanding, calmness, and clear guidance and can provide them with an appropriate environment – ideally with enough space and a more tranquil surroundings. Loki brings the best prerequisites to become a faithful companion for life – he just needs the chance. Are you the person who can finally welcome Loki? Even a foster home would be a wonderful opportunity for him to escape the gray shelter routine and continue to develop in a safe environment. Loki travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. Of course, he brings his EU pet passport with him. Stand: 25.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Julia V.! Du unterstützt Loki mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 09.06.2026 Weitere Informationen zum Thema Vorkontrolle und Schutzgebühr

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
