Hi! I’m Lola. A beautiful 7-year-old Labrador lady. Right now, I’m living at DOA. That might sound a bit sad, but honestly, I’ve already had quite a few adventures here. Unfortunately, my previous owner couldn’t take such good care of me, so some kind people decided I needed to live somewhere where I’d be well looked after. Of course, my biggest dream is to find a new, loving owner who wants to go on adventures with me. And sometimes, when the caregivers see me, they’ll even start singing a little song: “Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl…” Well… showgirl, I’m not so sure about that—but I’m definitely the star of the cuddle show! Let me tell you a bit about what kind of dog I am. First of all: I’m SUPER sweet. Seriously. If cuddling were a sport, I’d have already won a gold medal, two silver medals, and probably even a trophy for “most enthusiastic cuddler.” I love coming over to say hello—and give a big hug! I also absolutely love going for walks. It’s so nice to explore together, sniffing around in the grass, sniffing at one tree, then another... you get the idea. You see, I’m a professional sniffer! Some dogs just can’t get enough of chasing after a ball. Well… I kinda look at that a bit differently. People throw it away—and then expect me to fetch it? But it was just lying right here a moment ago! Honestly, I don’t really see the logic in that. So while other dogs are sprinting after balls, I’m usually doing something way more important—like sniffing around. Or playing with other dogs! That’s actually what I really enjoy. A little running, a little romping, discovering together everything there is to smell. Oh! And I’ve got to confess something else... At DOA, I’ve discovered a special talent of mine. I’m a champion at hiding! Seriously. I’ve already scared several caregivers. I’ll sneak under a playground structure, make myself super tiny... and then lie perfectly still. No sound. No movement. Nothing at all. And then I’ll hear from far away: “Where’s Lola?! Has anyone seen Lola?!” Hehe. Luckily, they’ve figured out by now that my favorite hiding spot is under the playground equipment. So eventually, I always get found again. (And yeah, usually I get a big hug afterward... so maybe I do it a little on purpose after all.) In short: I’m a sweet, cheerful, cuddly sniffer with a little talent for hide-and-seek. Now all I’m missing is my very own human. Someone who wants to go for walks with me, cuddle, laugh at my silly antics, and maybe even help me search when I’ve “disappeared” again. Do you think we’d make a great team? Hoi! Ik ben Lola. Een prachtige labrador dame van 7 jaar jong. Momenteel woon ik bij DOA. Dat klinkt misschien een beetje zielig, maar eerlijk gezegd heb ik hier al best wat avonturen beleefd. Mijn vorige baasje kon helaas niet zo goed voor me zorgen, dus hebben lieve mensen besloten dat ik ergens moest wonen waar wél goed voor me gezorgd wordt. Mijn allergrootste droom is natuurlijk een nieuw, lief baasje dat met mij op avontuur wil. En soms hoor ik de verzorgers hier een liedje zingen als ze me zien: "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl…" Nou ja… showgirl weet ik niet hoor, maar ster van de knuffelshow ben ik zeker! Laat ik even vertellen wat voor hond ik ben. Allereerst: ik ben SUPER lief. Echt waar. Als knuffelen een sport was, had ik inmiddels een gouden medaille, twee zilveren en waarschijnlijk ook nog een beker voor “meest enthousiaste knuffelaar”. Ik kom graag even hallo zeggen (en hallo knuffelen). Wandelen vind ik ook fantastisch. Lekker samen op pad, snuffelen in het gras, snuffelen aan een boom, snuffelen aan nóg een boom… je snapt het idee. Ik ben namelijk een professionele snuffelaar. Sommige honden zijn gek op achter een bal aanrennen. Tja… daar kijk ik toch een beetje anders tegenaan. Mensen gooien hem weg… en dan verwachten ze dat ik hem ga halen? Maar hij lag net nog prima hier. Ik zie eerlijk gezegd de logica niet zo. Dus terwijl andere honden achter ballen aan sprinten, ben ik meestal iets belangrijkers aan het doen. Zoals… snuffelen. Of spelen met andere honden! Dat vind ik namelijk wél heel leuk. Een beetje rennen, een beetje dollen, samen ontdekken wat er allemaal te ruiken valt. Oh! En ik moet nog iets bekennen… Ik heb hier bij DOA een bijzonder talent ontdekt. Ik ben namelijk een kampioen verstoppen. Serieus. Ik heb al meerdere verzorgers laten schrikken. Dan graaf ik me stiekem onder een speeltoestel, maak mezelf heel klein… en blijf dan muisstil liggen. Geen geluid. Geen beweging. Niks. En dan hoor ik in de verte: “Waar is Lola?! Heeft iemand Lola gezien?!” Hehe. Gelukkig weten ze inmiddels dat mijn favoriete verstopplek onder het speeltoestel is. Dus uiteindelijk word ik altijd weer gevonden. (En ja, dan krijg ik meestal een knuffel… dus misschien is het toch een beetje expres.) Kortom: ik ben een lieve, vrolijke, knuffelige snuffelaar met een klein talent voor verstoppertje. Nu zoek ik alleen nog een eigen mens. Iemand die met mij wil wandelen, knuffelen, lachen om mijn rare streken en misschien af en toe helpt zoeken als ik weer eens “verdwenen” ben.
