Adopt Lotta, Kerava

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Lotta is looking for a calm and understanding home. A roughly 2-year-old medium-haired orange and white Lotta (seen on the left in the photo) has arrived at the organization from an outdoor population of over 40 cats during the severe cold in January 2026. She moved to her first home in Kerava at the beginning of March and is now slowly learning to live as an indoor cat. Lotta is still very shy and spends most of her time in her safe space, such as under the sofa. During the day she stays hidden, but at night she moves around more and explores her environment. When she sees a person, Lotta easily startles and runs to hide, and sudden situations can cause her to hiss. In handling situations (for example, when eye drops are given, even if the tear ducts were blocked, the cat was given drops for a week) Lotta has been defensive, so she needs a home that understands the boundaries of a shy cat and that Lotta requires a lot of time to get used to people. As an outdoor cat, Lotta would benefit from another cat who is a little bolder and could serve as a role model. Lotta will not be rehomed alone. So far, Lotta has been clean indoors and has used the litter box without problems. During the day, food is still eaten cautiously, especially due to her outdoor background, particularly higher quality food. A strict separation from sugar treats is carried out, as long as she eats something at the beginning. A medium-length coat requires regular grooming, which the new home must commit to - taking into account that getting used to handling takes time. Lotta is being rehomed spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed. She is FIV/FeLV negative and will not be rehomed as an outdoor cat - just like none of our other cats, of course. Lotta is primarily looking for a calm, patient, and cat-literate home where quick adaptation is not expected, but time is given for building trust. Today is also an excellent day to own eyes, as can be seen from the photos, the cat is absolutely incredibly beautiful. Do I even need to mention that. Look now. Huhhuh.

Lotta etsii rauhallista ja ymmärtäväistä kotia. Noin 2-vuotias puolipitkäkarvainen oranssivalkoinen Lotta (kuvassa vasemmalla) on saapunut yhdistykselle yli 40 kissan ulkopopulaatiosta tammikuun 2026 kovilla pakkasilla. Huhhuh. Tuommonen ku hi

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotta, Kerava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotta, Kerava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kissojensuojelu.fi handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotta, Kerava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotta, Kerava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kissojensuojelu.fi will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotta, Kerava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotta, Kerava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kissojensuojelu.fi early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotta, Kerava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
