Home » Adoptions » cats in search of a family » Madison Madison I was born on: March 3, 2014 I have been here since: May 2014 I like to: chase the red dot I don't like when: you try to touch me I found my box: ohhh… still not yet Madison is a beautiful cat, one you can't help but notice, even though she's very quiet and reserved. She has white socks, very sad eyes, and is usually under a table or in a basket, watching you motionless. She came to us more than 4 years ago, together with her sister and brother, who were adopted quite quickly. However, being very shy and fearful, she stayed with us and probably will spend the next few years here, along with many other shy, fearful or feral cats. She doesn't always run away from us, Madison the beautiful one, only when we try to touch her. But if you pass by her basket, she looks at you with her big eyes, as if holding her breath, but she doesn't run away. And when it's mealtime, she patiently waits for you to notice her and put a bowl in front of her - because she doesn't like "crowding" with other cats at mealtime. She prefers her corner and her peace, but she doesn't hesitate when it comes to a good game. Whether she chases a shadow or tries to catch the laser light, play is a pleasure for her and she is willing to overcome even her fears - it seems her hunting instinct is still very strong. When we see her playing, it's like going back in time and seeing the kitten inside her, the one that plays without worry, fear, or anxiety. What a shame! If she had been adopted 3 or 4 years ago, our Madison would now be a calm, well-behaved, playful, and, we believe, friendly cat. Maybe, who knows, she will have this chance some day, although it will be much harder after so many years in the shelter. She will need more patience, more understanding as time goes by. And yet, it's not impossible that one day, our beautiful Madison will meet that wonderful person who will fall in love with her instantly, and say: "Come home with me, beautiful girl!" Adopt me! Adopt me from afar! The adoption of a kitten from our shelter is done based on an adoption contract. Why? Because we care! The conditions imposed by the association Friends of Cats are easy to comply with when the person adopting is responsible and truly loves the cats. Thank you!

About Madison

What life with Madison looks like

Madison is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea in Oradea.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Madison, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Madison?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Madison on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Madison if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Madison already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Madison isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea early rather than rehoming privately; they know Madison and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (RO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
