Margot

Labrador Retriever · Female · Adult · 8 years

During our Sardinian tour in September 2025, it was naturally also on the program to meet the new dogs at Canile Arzachena and also to see some of the already known animals again. In enclosure 23, the lovely trio Athena, Margot and Zenon were waiting for us. The three siblings had had a family for many years, where they were happy together. However, private circumstances now led to Athena, Margot and Zenon losing their home and ending up at Canile Arzachena. This really saddened us from the bottom of our hearts, because it must have been a shock for the three wonderful, loving dogs to be torn from their home and have to leave behind everything familiar. Athena, Margot and Zenon were very excited when we entered their enclosure. They were constantly around us, enjoying our attention and the cuddles. They didn't want to let us go anymore. And it was also really hard for us to say goodbye to them. Although the dogs at Canile Arzachena receive sufficient food and the staff are very friendly, Canile can never replace a real home. And for dogs who have lived in a family for years, it must be especially difficult to get used to life at a shelter. Athena, Margot and Zenon are not young dogs anymore. Therefore, we very much hope that they don't have to wait too long at Canile, but soon get the chance to embark on the big journey to Germany. There, they will find their wonderful homes with kind people and experience some more beautiful years within a family. Would you like to give Athena, Margot or Zenon the dream home with close family connection? May 1, 2026: Margot was allowed to travel to her German foster home. May 15, 2026: Our dear senior citizen Margot is a real dream dog. She is friendly, completely relaxed and people-oriented. Her foster mother is currently taking her on several shorter walks a day; she still needs a bit more fitness. A few pounds should also drop, for which regular exercise will certainly help. Margot is already well trained on a leash, interested in her surroundings and completely open. She has already successfully taken the bus with her foster mother. Dog encounters go smoothly. If male dogs are too pushy, she occasionally makes an appropriate little growl and the situation is resolved. Margot gets along well with children, but prefers a quiet home without hustle and bustle. The Labrador retriever can already relax alone at home for an hour and simply sleeps through the time. So she is a great nice dog who will bring a lot of luck to her family. What Margot still lacks is the right loving home, in which she hopes to spend a few more beautiful, relaxed years. She dreams of a home with a garden, where she can roll in the grass and feel the sun on her fur. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and you are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. We place dogs throughout the country. Your contact person for this

About Margot

What life with Margot looks like

Margot is a extra-large adult labrador retriever dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
