Marley

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

💔🐾 Meet Marley – an older boy who desperately needs someone to choose him. 🐾❤️ Some dogs come into rescue and break your heart a little. Marley is one of those dogs.🫪 This lovely 12-year-old boy has been loved his entire life, and through an incident that was completely no fault of his own, he found himself surrendered into rescue. It has been one of the saddest cases we’ve dealt with over the years, and so desperately unfair on Marley. But it’s not our place to judge. It’s our place to help, to care, and to make sure that when a dog needs us, we do everything we can to find them a brighter tomorrow. ❤️ And that’s exactly what we want for Marley. Marley is a quirky little Jack Russell cross with a big personality. He’s strong-willed, determined and ever so lovable. At 12 years young, he’s still full of adventure, loves his walks and is always happy to head out and explore the world. He’s settled well with us and is slowly learning to feel safe again, but we know he’s missing home. He’s missing the family he knew and loved for his entire life, and we desperately want him to experience that feeling of belonging again. Marley is an absolute gentleman around the rescue. He doesn’t bark, he doesn’t shout, and he doesn’t demand attention. He simply sits patiently, waiting for whatever little bit of time our volunteers can give him. And that, somehow, makes it all the sadder. 🥹 He’s such an easy boy to have around, an affectionate little soul who deserves to spend his golden years being someone’s everything. 🏡 What does Marley need? 🐾 He can live happily with another suitable dog, but he would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home. ❤️ A family who will give him love, security and a place to call his own. 👨‍👩‍👧 A home with children aged 16 and over, as he can be wary of younger children. Marley isn’t asking for the world. He doesn’t need grand adventures or a life full of excitement. He just needs his person, his walks, a cosy place to sleep and the reassurance that he’s home again. Twelve years old. A lifetime of love given. And now, through circumstances beyond his control, he’s starting over. Please don’t let Marley’s age mean you scroll past him. Older dogs have so much love left to give, and Marley is living proof of that. ❤️ Can you imagine giving this little gentleman the happy ending he deserves? A home where he can finally put his paws up, feel safe and know he’s never going to lose his family again? 📩 Please get in touch with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI if you can offer Marley his forever home. Let’s find this boy the family he deserves. 🐾❤️

About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
