Marlo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born in 2022, Gender: male, neutered: yes, Character: friendly, somewhat insecure, Size: approx. 40 cm, In shelter since: July 2022 Hello dear people! I am Marlo. Today, I wanted to muster up some courage and introduce myself. As you can see, I am sometimes still a bit insecure. I had to learn to accept the proximity of people. It was hard for me to assess what they wanted from me. That's why I would bark loudly at anyone who approached me, hoping I wouldn't have to face them. But now I understand. Without you people, it doesn't work, and with you, it's even better! Honestly, I'm not such a wild guy; I just need a little time to adjust to you. I probably need a person who comes in and sits with me. Someone who just listens to what I have to say, and at the end, we hear what he has to say too. Maybe that could work with us. Are you the right ones to help with my insecurity? Then please get in touch; I've been waiting long enough... If you are interested in Marlo, please fill out our application form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Marlo is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and they have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Marlo has been taken over by family O. and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2022 geboren Geschlecht: männlich Kastriert: ja Charakter: freundlich Größe: ca. 40 cm Im Shelter seit: Juli 2022 Hallo, liebe Menschen!

About Marlo

What life with Marlo looks like

Marlo is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
