Hoi! Ik ben Meisje. Ja, dat is mijn naam. Creatief hè? Scheelt weer een identiteitscrisis. Ik ben 1 jaar jong, Mechelaar van beroep, professioneel rondjesrenner, amateur kangoeroe en fulltime enthousiasteling. Mijn leven begon een beetje gek. Ik woonde vooral binnen. Heel veel binnen. Zo veel binnen dat ik op een gegeven moment dacht dat de buitenwereld misschien gewoon een gerucht was. Bomen? Verdacht. Wind? Héél verdacht. Mensen die ineens mijn huis binnenkwamen? Nou ja... daar heb ik helaas niet zo handig op gereageerd. Als alles wat je niet kent eng is, dan ga je soms keuzes maken waar je later van denkt: "Misschien had ik ook gewoon kunnen blaffen in plaats van een hapje nemen." Daardoor ben ik bij DOA terechtgekomen. En daar bleek dat de wereld eigenlijk veel groter is dan vier muren en een plafond. Nog steeds vind ik nieuwe dingen soms spannend hoor. Maar inmiddels weet ik dat vreemde mensen niet automatisch aliens zijn. Zeker niet als ze worstjes bij zich hebben. Worstjes zijn namelijk wetenschap. Worstje erin, vertrouwen eruit. Zo werkt dat. Ik heb ondertussen twee vaste verzorgers uitgekozen als mijn favoriete mensen op aarde. Met hen voel ik me veilig en ontmoetingen met nieuwe mensen gaan steeds beter. Ik leer namelijk verrassend snel. Echt waar. Geef me een paar lieve woordjes, wat geduld en een snackje en ik denk binnen vijf minuten: "Misschien ben jij ook wel oké." Maar ik moet wel iets bekennen... Ik vind het verschrikkelijk als mensen weggaan. ECHT VERSCHRIKKELIJK. Als jij je schoenen aantrekt, heb ik al tien scenario's bedacht waarin je nooit meer terugkomt. Ik heb verlatingsangst, omdat ik vroeger eigenlijk altijd iemand om me heen had. Alleen leerde niemand mij hoe ik zelfstandig kon zijn. Of hoe ik mijn energie kwijt moest. Of wat ik eigenlijk met mezelf aan moest. En geloof me: ik héb energie. VEEL energie. HEEEEEL VEEL ENERGIE. Zeg maar gerust: "Waarom rent die hond alsof ze een belangrijke vergadering heeft?"-energie. Ik spring. Ik stuiter. Ik draai rondjes. Ik vlieg soms bijna door de atmosfeer. Niet omdat ik vervelend wil zijn, maar omdat niemand me ooit heeft geleerd hoe ik al die energie in goede banen kan leiden. Terwijl ik juist zo graag wil leren! Ik vind werken met mijn hoofd fantastisch. Nieuwe dingen leren? Leuk. Samen trainen? Leuk. Opdrachten uitvoeren? Leuk. Voor jou aan de slag gaan? Héél leuk. Eigenlijk ben ik een beetje alsof iemand een Ferrari heeft gekocht en hem vervolgens een jaar lang in de garage heeft laten staan. Dan moet je ook niet gek opkijken als dat ding ineens alle kanten op schiet zodra de deur opengaat. Daarom zoek ik een baasje dat begrijpt wat een Mechelaar nodig heeft. Iemand die niet denkt: "Wat een drukke hond," maar: "Wat een slimme hond die nog moet leren hoe de wereld werkt." Iemand die me structuur geeft, uitdaging biedt, met me wil trainen, lachen, ontdekken en mij laat zien dat het leven buiten eigenlijk best geweldig is.
